Attention Deficit & Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

ADHD is the most common behavior disorder of childhood. Children with ADHD usually have problems that have been present for at least six months and began when they were six years old or younger. Problems may include:

* Inattention and Distractibility - The child has trouble focusing   attention and concentrating, and has difficulty staying on task and finishing things. The happens at home and during play as well as in the classroom.

* Impulsivity - The child tends to act before thinking, and may shift from one activity to another. He or she has trouble organizing work, and needs a lot of supervision. The child often has trouble waiting and calls out in class.

* Hyperactivity - Many children (but not all) with ADHD are hyperactive. They fidget, squirm, touch, get up and down, and run and climb a lot. They appear "on-the-go" or "driven-like-a-motor."

Children with ADHD may have all of the features described above, or may have mostly inattention, without much impulsivity or hyperactivity. The hyperactivity type occurs more in boys than girls. Other problems that children with ADHD may have include impulsive aggression and difficulty with social skills.

It is not unusual for other problems to coexist with ADHD. Some of these include behavior problems such as oppositional defiant disorder. conduct disorder, mood disorders, and anxiety disorders
